We will never understand why Joe was called home so young, but it’s not for us to understand but to trust in God and His perfect plan. Joe was an extraordinary young man. There were times where Joe would have conversations with us and he would leave us speechless at the unique and articulate way in which he expressed himself, his logic, mature insight, keen sense of perception and witty sense of humor. This is the way we all remember Joe.

After this act of violence took his life, he continues to leave us in awe because of the way he impacted so many lives and continues to do so even when physically gone.

Joe had accepted Christ into his life at 17 and was instrumental in bringing others to the Lord. His life was brief but very meaningful as he was able to accomplish more than some who live a long life.

We always knew Joe was a leader since he was very young. He continued to do so as he excelled at every sport he participated in, breaking records but always making sure he encouraged his peers in all aspects of life to be the best they can be.

Some ask why bad things happen to good people. We ask another question, why do good things happen to us?  God chose us to be his parents and as such, have the absolute privilege and honor to raise a young man who would have such a powerful impact in a very short life.

Although his absence fills our hearts with pain and grief, it is equaled to the joy of knowing that we have not said goodbye to Joe but simply good night for we know we’ll be saying good morning to him in heaven.
