JOE ECKLES SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP

Joe had a passion for sports.  During his 4 years at Cypress Creek High School, Joe played football, wrestled, played lacrosse, and in his junior and senior years participated on the weightlifting team.  But Joe did more than just participate in the sports programs, he made major contributions in each of the sports he participated in.  Joe was a starting linebacker for the football team in his junior and senior years.  He played side by side with his good friends Justin Weber in his junior year and Justin Porter in his senior year.  In Joe's senior year, he set a new school record for the number of tackles achieved in one year.  During Joe's wrestling career, he wrestled as low as 152lbs and as high as 215lbs.  Joe was a dominant wrestler for the team and twice participated at regionals.  I think the sport Joe loved the most however, was lacrosse.  He and his brother Jeff played lacrosse all 4 years and both were exceptional mid fielders and the highest scorers on the team.  Joe followed his brother's lead to play in the regional all-senior game at Disney.

At the conclusion of Joe's senior year of lacrosse, his jersey #33 was retired and at the memorial service, his football jersey #54 was also retired.

But even with all of Joe's success in sports, what he loved the most was the friends he found on the fields and the mat.  Joe lived for being with his friends.  He would do anything for them on and off the field.

In memory of Joe's passion for sports and desire to complete his college degree, a  memorial scholarship fund has been established in Joe's name.
